Race Track

In about three months I will have a one year old.  Hard to believe, isn't it?  I still feel like I'm a freshman in college sometimes, but time keeps on flying by.

Tristan is starting to be a lot more social, and he's starting to learn new things.  With a lot of coaching, he's sitting up on his own, with his back straight.  Man!  That was a long time coming.  We bought him a race track baby toy to help entice him to sit up and play, and so far it's working well.  He still prefers to roll rather than attempt crawling, but every baby has their own way of getting around.  We have gotten him to scoot forward once or twice, when he has something he desperately wants just out of reach.....like my computer or Nick's shoes.  He will also take a few steps with us.  Last night, we were just playing on the floor, and he pulled himself up with the bouncer, but promptly fell over, haha.  Nick's older brother Chris suggested we get him a little baby table so he could learn to pull himself up better, so we might check out the Kid to Kid store or DI and see what they've got.

But besides all that, he has learned to clap, and seems to do it appropriately.  He'll clap when we say "yeay!" or when he sees me coming at him with a jar of baby food.  He's also started saying "mama", and he says it all the time!  So maybe that's his word to mean everything, haha, but it's super cute.  Especially when he's sad and crying and reaching for me he goes "mamamamamama!"  And the funniest is that Suki has become his favorite playmate.  They both aren't the smartest, so it's hilarious to watch this happen day after day.  Suki will come and sit next to him, and he'll roll over and start patting her, giggling and screaming, until he finally gets a fistful of fur and yanks.  Suki runs off, sometimes making a screech, but returns moments later and it happens again.  She just adores him so much I guess she doesn't mind losing some fur....haha crazy kitty.  I'm just glad she's so sweet with him, I don't think I could have found a better cat, she never bites or hisses at him.  Although, I can't guarantee that it will always be that way, so I pull him away from her when I notice.

And that's about all for now about Tristan.  He's doing well, very happy, sleeping through the night and sometimes into the morning (can't complain there!).  He also is loving solids, bananas and sweet potatoes are still his favorite.  I need to find something he likes with less sugar!  Pears seem to work for now, but I really want him to eat peas and such.  Oh well, I'll keep working on it.  He also has discovered sippy cups, not very well, but we're working on that too.  He'll get it to his mouth and drink a bit, but then make a face and shove it away.  Silly baby.  Isn't it crazy how fast your little one grows up?

Papa and baby!
