So, first he had the xrays, which were totally normal. Then on Thursday, he had an MRI. That was exciting. He couldn't have anything to eat past 6:30 in the morning, so it worked out that he woke up at 5:30, ate, and went back to sleep until we had to leave for Salt Lake at 11. Thankfully, my sister Becky offered herself for company since Nick couldn't come, and I was soo glad to have her there! When we were all checked in, we ended up waiting for an hour and a half just to get Tristan's IV started. He did very well though, he wasn't terribly upset, we just kept walking around with him and distracting him from the fact that "food" wasn't feeding him. And the IV went super well, he didn't even flinch! Not sure if that is a bad thing......haha but really, they got it in the first try, he didn't even seem upset, and then half an hour later, they were ready to take him back. He sat on my lap while they gave him the sedative, and he was out before they even finished the syringe....haha I think he was already exhausted (it was about 2:30 in the afternoon by this time). Then Becky and I got something to drink and waited for him to be done. When they brought him to recovery, he was waking up, so we had to get him back to sleep because they wanted him to sleep there for at least two hours. Becky and I took turns holding him, and around 4:30 they said we could wake him up. He was sooooo funny when he woke up. He couldn't focus on anything,he was wobbly all over the place, and he couldn't stop talking! Bababababa, mumumumummmm, aaaaaah! Dadadadataaaaaataaaa, ahhhhh! Seriously, the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life.
And the good thing is, that came back normal. Hmmm, so no problems with his cranial nerves and no problems with his brainstem. So on to the opthalmology appointment.....or I should say, the optometry appointment.....way to go schedulers. We ended up waiting a little longer while they tried to squeeze us in with a real MD. And! Guess what? Eye sight, completely normal. Surprise surprise, like I said, I wasn't really expecting anything to come up. They did dilate his eyes though, so he was a little silly the rest of the day because of that as well. Poor kid, so many tests and nothing wrong. Kinda frustrates me, because one doctor is like "bah! look, this is a problem, have him seen immediately!" then the other is like "pffft, he's fine". Soooooooooo, one more appointment next week with audiology, and then we get to put all the tests together and go, "oh, really? needed botox all along, eh?"
Anyhoo! at least we all had a good laugh when he came out of being sedated right? Even the other patients recovering and all the nurses. more news about it all next week! stay tuned!
